By God's grace, enrollment across the 66 schools of the English District for the fall of 2008 is up 67 students over last year. Daily, just under 5,700 young people have the opportunity to grow in their faith relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Do Lutheran schools make a difference? The answer is "Yes" and current statistical research indicates the following regarding those who attend Lutheran schools:
* Report more frequent experiences with God in their personal lives.
* Exhibit a more consistent belief in the divinity of Jesus.
* Profess a greater clarity on the way of salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone (not by works).
* Display more Biblical knowledge.
* Engage in a much fuller devotional life.
* Do more witnessing to others about Christ.
* Hold a more balanced theology.
* Have a greater awareness of the presence of the Trinity in one's whole life.
* Give a higher value to relationships with God and other persons.
* Show more reasonable respect for authority.
* Live out stronger tendencies to be forgiving and personally forthright with other people.
* Evidence greater avoidance of over-simplistic views.
* Reveal less tendency to be anxious about their faith.
* Are less swayed by their peers.
The research has also shown that the more years a young person attends a Lutheran school, the more sigificant are the differences. The Word of God works!
By God's grace, our Lutheran schools are on the cutting edge of mission and ministry in our Synod and society today. To God be the glory!
In Christ,
Tim
