Charlottesville statement

The tragic events which transpired in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend reveal the fallen nature of man and demonstrate that “every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” Genesis 6:5. It also shows how we continue to fall short of our Lord’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” Matthew 22:39. We at the English District offer our prayers and condolences to those who have lost loved ones or otherwise been affected by this incident; we condemn all forms of racism and bigotry, affirming that all human beings are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27); and we pray for the progress of the Gospel in our nation that all may know of God’s love for them through Jesus Christ and experience “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding” Philippians 4:7.
